Gala Fundraiser

Gala Fundraiser

Contributed by Jetta Whittaker  |  Tickets are going quickly for Bartlett Regional Hospital Foundation’s Seafood Gala and Fundraiser atop Mt. Roberts on Saturday, September 7th. “If you haven’t purchased yours yet, get them on-line or call the JACC as soon as possible,” said Foundation board president Holly Cerne. “You won’t want to miss this fun and worthy event!”

The Foundation has been planning the event for months. “The menu is set, decorations complete, and auction items selected. Now, we’re getting ready to get dressed up for a good cause,” said Cerne. “We hope to raise more than $40,000 to provide training and certification for Bartlett’s nurses in conducting sexual assault exams. They’ve been without this important certification for far too long, and it’s time to change that.”
For the Gala, celebrity chef Jesse Ziff Cool of CoolEatz restaurants and Timberline Catering Manager Mark Collier have put together a unique menu featuring a wide variety of Alaska seafood, all of which will be generously donated by Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute. Beer from Alaskan Brewing will also be featured, in addition to a no-host bar.
Former Representative Caren Robinson will be honored for her years of service on behalf of victims of domestic violence. Robinson, a survivor of domestic violence herself, is the founder of Juneau’s AWARE shelter. Additionally, local doctor and former Broadway singer Mimi Benjamin will sing several songs.

Among the many items to be auctioned at the Gala are artwork and jewelry, delicious meals, relaxing massages, and gift certificates for travel experiences both local and afar, including two tickets anywhere Alaska Airlines flies and a seven day island-hopping luxury cruise in the Sea of Cortez with Un-Cruise Adventures.

“We are so grateful to Juneau’s business community for sponsorships and donations of wonderful auction items for the Gala,” said Cerne. “Juneauites should be proud of how generously this community has given to help us reach our goal.”
In addition to Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute, corporate sponsors of the Gala include Guardian Flight, Sealaska Corporation, Hecla Greens Creek, Rainforest Pediatrics, and Juneau Emergency Medical Associates, with additional help from Alaskan Brewing, Goldbelt, and the Mt. Roberts Tram.

Tickets for the Seafood Gala are $125 each, and are available at the Juneau Arts and Culture Center, Hearthside Books and at the Foundation office. For more information on the Gala, contact the Foundation office at 463-5704 or brhfound@gci.net.
